Talents: Swimmer & Poet

Why I started poetry & what my poems are about?

Well, I read a Tupac Shakur book that he wrote at the age of 20 and I was 18 at the time. Completely didn’t like poetry before, I was never into literature. After reading this book, it absolutely inspired me and literally gave me a light bulb moment. Triggering a whole new perspective, vibe and interest for Poetry in general.

I write poetry to vent my emotions and notions. Poetry is my tool of escapism from the chaotic daily life I live. It’s a way to escape and be lost, transfixed in this imaginative world of magic. Words pretty much turn me on creatively, spiritually and emotionally.

Poetry is my weapon to protect me from when I get angry from circumstances and quarrels. Instead of releasing bad vibes and bad energy, I would rather release my bitterness kept inside on the page.
I’ve been writing poems for three years now (Since 2010) I have over a 1000 poems. I don’t remember all the titles however majority of my material is about social issues like: Poverty, Teenage pregnancy and knife crime. I also write poems on world ills like War, racism & unemployment. On my blog I’ve mostly love poems.

I believe poetry can change the world; it only takes one eloquent speaker to hit home & stimulate an entire crowd. I’m not a spoken word poet, although I do admire people like Maya Angelou, Sarah Kay & Rafeef ziadah.
I hope my poetry can touch many nations, many hearts and many people. I want to improve my aptitude & I want to improve the literacy rate in my country.

In my own opinion, I feel more people should get involved in poetry. Anybody can be a poet, we all have an imagination & it’s utterly a very beautiful therapy for the soul.

My philosophy to life
I believe good things come to those that work for it, yearn for it & strive for it.
We all have accountability for our actions
We all have responsibility for the words we utter
God is the hero, The devil is the villain
Life is the performance and the show keeps going
I’ve learnt that to expect the unexpected; don’t ever judge a book by its cover
Love is the most powerful and beautiful entity on earth
But majority in our society advocate enmity, which causes less equality

I’m a free spirit, spontaneous, audacious & creative person
I believe that if you treat someone with decency you will get shown back dignity
We only have one chance to get it right, 1st impressions are paramount
I’ve seen and spoken to different races, traditions, cultures and I know that there’s more to a person than just their bank account
I’m thankful for the life I have, I’m thankful for the people around me
The most important thing in the world is my family.
Fear is a liar and freedom is beauty

Helping ourselves, inspiring ourselves is not just a pastime but duty
Before I pass away, when my time has run out for me to stay
I want to be remembered for good, justice, inspiration & revolution
I may not be perfect, because we all make mistakes
But change our ways and do whatever it takes
I want my parents to be delighted and happy
I want the world to have peace and tranquillity
I want our generation to be distinguished with individuality

I’ve learnt that looks diminish and it’s indispensable to have a good personality, a good soul.
Humbleness, positiveness & patience possibly lead you to success
I want to relish and cherish, quench and seize every opportunity
Every breathless moment, every walk of life
It’s a world of wonder, a world of mystery
I want to travel to the sights of luxury and the pits of poverty
This is my philosophy to life.

My mottos
Make it happen
Hakuna matata
C'est la vie
Hard work, sacrifice & self-belief
